KNODOS
About
KNODOS offers espresso tools built around one core workflow: grind, distribute, tamp, screen, and brew. The range includes tampers, tamping stations, bottomless portafilters, dosing funnels, puck screens, and knock boxes. Every piece combines turned walnut, rosewood, or maple with stainless steel. Sizes cover 51 mm, 54 mm, and 58 mm group heads across various home and commercial setups.
How our tools are made
We select walnut, rosewood, and maple for our handles, choosing boards with tight grain and consistent density. Each handle is turned on a lathe, sanded smooth through fine grits, and finished with oil or sealants designed for daily exposure to water and coffee grounds. Metal parts are machined from stainless steel. Dimensions matter down to fractions of a millimeter. A 54 mm tamper base must fit cleanly into a basket without suction, while a bottomless portafilter head needs exact lug dimensions to lock smoothly into a group head. Threading steel shafts into hardwood handles takes careful tolerances so joint seals stay firm over time. Final assembly happens by hand. We screw turned handles into steel bases, set needle depth on WDT tools, and test spring travel on auto-leveling tampers. Before anything goes into a box, someone at the bench checks the finish, verifies the fit, and wipes it clean. It is quiet, repetition-driven work focused on making tools that feel solid every morning.
The people behind the bench
We are a small team with a crowded workbench and a simple routine. Every piece of gear in our range sits on our own coffee stations long before it reaches yours. We pull shots every morning, argue over grind adjustments, and try each prototype on the machines sitting in our own kitchens. When we adjust needle thickness on a WDT stirrer or tighten the fit of a walnut handle, it comes from daily use. We notice when a tamper spring feels too heavy, or when a dosing ring slips on a 54 mm basket. We pull the shots, knock the pucks, and trim details until the tool works cleanly.
What this site publishes
This site publishes exact specifications for every tool, stating group sizes, wood species, and hardware materials directly from product data. Prices update on a set schedule and carry a clear date stamp. Any tool missing a price reads "Currently unavailable." Coffee brewing and storage guidance is read before we quote it, with read dates provided on our sources page.
